I originally hand-coded the site back in 2008 and, largely, it served me well. I started running into frustrations as we released more controls in that it became quite a chore to hand-code each page individually and keeping the site dynamic was becoming more of a challenge. I’ve always used WordPress to power Figa’s blog and so it made sense to migrate to a wholly WordPress setup. We’re now running a custom theme but with some nice widgets and plugins (including our own RBCode plugin). I’ve also just finished migrating the forums over to XenForo (we previously were using the free Vanilla software).
Overall, I’m very pleased with how things are looking so far. Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
